Legendary temples, many of which are UNESCO World Heritage sites, tell stories which took place thousands of years ago, linking back to the country’s two significant ethnic groups – the Sinhalese and Tamils. Both groups tell fascinating and contrasting versions of Sri Lanka’s past, including the origins of the many temples and Buddhist shrines.
